Meals On Wheels

This is our signature service project. For the past 36 years, our Lions Club along with the Marietta Lions Club take over the Meals On Wheels program in Cobb County on CHRISTMAS DAY. We work with Cobb Senior Services to identify the seniors who would be alone on that special day and commit to delivering a meal to them. We purchase the food, prepare it, and serve it on Christmas morning, then make our deliveries. We have fed as many as 147 seniors and, in some cases, their families as well. We have been blessed to have a large number of volunteers find us on the East Cobb Patch, in the East Cobb Neighbor, and on Facebook and join us to deliver Holiday Greetings and a meal.

We use the kitchen and fellowship hall at Powers Ferry UMC which is located at 245 Powers Ferry Rd SE Marietta 30067. We ask volunteers to arrive at 10 AM and decorate greeting cards and fill the fruit bags before leaving to deliver. For more information, contact us.

This Christmas (2018) we served 135 meals at 86 different locations. The fellowship hall at Powers Ferry was full of Christmas Elves, busily coloring the fruit bags, making greeting cards, and listening to holiday music. Santa wasn’t able to make his annual visit, he was pretty tired after a long nights work and took the day off. Thanks to everyone who participated and made this a very special event!

The event even made the Lions Blog which is read all over the world. Read Blog
